How it works

  1. Tell us your child's first name and age — every story stars them as the hero.
  2. Every evening at six, a fresh original story arrives by email, written for their age.
  3. Read it aloud at lights-out. "…and then Emma tiptoed into the whispering woods…"

Emma and the Owl Who Forgot the Moon

Emma was almost asleep when she heard it — a soft hoo-hoo-oh-no outside her window. On the branch sat a round little owl, looking terribly worried.

"I've lost the moon," whispered the owl. "I put it somewhere safe, and now I can't remember where."

Emma pulled on her slippers. If anyone could find a whole moon, it was her…

“We have a few ‘bedtime regulars’ in our house, but The Bedtime Post has replaced them all. We HAVE to read the new story first, and then follow it up with two from previous evenings — I know a few of them off by heart already 😅 He loves them! We love them! 💓”

From the editor’s desk

The Bedtime Post started at our own bedtime. My son wanted “one more story” every night, and I kept running out — so I built a newspaper that never does. Now a brand-new story lands in our inbox at six, and I read it to him the same evening.

Every edition crosses my desk before it reaches yours: nothing goes out that I wouldn’t read to my own child.

Questions, answered

What exactly do I get?

Every evening around six, a brand-new original bedtime story arrives in your inbox, with your child's name woven all the way through. It takes about five minutes to read aloud, ends drifting toward sleep, and there's a fresh one every single night.

Why don't you have an app?

Because we don't want to complicate a ham sandwich. Everybody already has email — you don't need anything more for this. No downloads, no accounts to manage, no updates, no notifications begging for attention. We want to keep things simple and easy: open tonight's story, and read.

Who writes the stories?

Each story is written fresh that day with the assistance of AI, following guidelines shaped by child-development thinking — gentle courage, honesty, kindness, naming big feelings — always lived through the story, never preached. Every story then passes two independent reviews (one for child-appropriateness, one for language quality) and is approved by a human editor — a parent — before it is sent to anyone.

Will it suit my child's age?

There are three nightly editions — ages 2–4, 5–7 and 8–10 — with vocabulary, story length and themes matched to each. You pick the band at signup and can change it any time by replying to a story.

What happens when my child outgrows their age group?

Just tell us — reply to any story email, or write to stories@thebedtimepost.com — and we'll move them up to the next edition from the very next night. Same subscription, same price, nothing to re-do. There's no rush, either: the bands are a guide, not a rule, so if your seven-year-old is happiest staying with the 5–7 stories a while longer, that's perfectly fine.

What does the boy/girl choice change?

Only the pronouns. Every story is written so it suits any child — the adventures, feelings and interests are for everyone.

Can one story star more than one child?

Yes — add up to two children when you sign up, and every night's story stars them both. Each child gets their own real moments in the adventure — their own age-appropriate part in the same story — rather than one hero and a name tacked on, and the words are chosen to suit the youngest. Want a third child added, or have feedback? Reply to any story email, or write to stories@thebedtimepost.com.

What if we miss a night?

Nothing to catch up and nothing to feel guilty about — it's email. Read it in the morning, save it for the weekend, or let it go; a new story comes tomorrow regardless.

How do I cancel?

One click on the link in any email. Stories keep coming until the end of the period you've paid for (or stop instantly, your choice) and nothing renews. Within the first 14 days you can get your first payment refunded in full — just reply to any email.

What do you store about my child?

A first name, an age range, and boy/girl. That's the whole list — no surname, no birthday, no photos. It's deleted when your subscription ends, and your child's name is never sent to our AI provider: stories are written as templates and the name is placed in on our own server at the moment your email is sent.
