This policy describes exactly how long The Bedtime Post (Netherlands, KvK 42092954) keeps each kind of data, and how deletion happens. It supplements our privacy policy. The guiding rule: we keep the minimum, for the shortest time the purpose requires, and deletion is automated rather than manual.
| Data | Kept while | Deleted |
|---|---|---|
| Child's details (first name(s), age range, boy/girl) | Your subscription is active | The moment stories stop: immediately when you choose "stop emails now" or complete a deletion request, or at the end of your paid period when you cancel with stories running to term |
| Your email address & subscription status | Subscription active + 13 months after it ends (billing disputes and making sure we don't email you again) | Automatically, 13 months after cancellation, by a weekly cleanup job |
| Delivery log (which day we emailed you — no content) | 90 days (prevents duplicate sends; short-term delivery troubleshooting) | Automatically after 90 days, weekly cleanup job |
| Story texts (shared templates — contain no personal data; your child's name is only inserted at the moment of sending) | Kept indefinitely | Not applicable — nothing about you or your child is in them |
| Payment & invoicing records (held by Stripe; we never see card or bank details) | 7 years | Per Dutch tax-law bookkeeping obligations (Algemene wet inzake rijksbelastingen) |
| Support emails you send to stories@thebedtimepost.com | Up to 24 months (context for follow-ups) | Manually reviewed and purged; deleted sooner on request |
| Website analytics (Plausible) | — | Nothing to delete: cookieless and aggregated, no personal data stored |
Deletion of child details is built into the cancellation and unsubscribe flows themselves — it does not depend on anyone remembering to do it. The 13-month, 90-day and 180-day windows are enforced by an automated weekly job, which is itself monitored so that a failure alerts us.
You can always request earlier deletion of everything we hold (except what tax law obliges us to keep) — see the "data request" section of our privacy policy. We act on deletion requests immediately.
